11:21 hrs. Btn. 7 IC: Track Fire Extinguished by Track Workers All FDNY Units 10-8

Seems Like Alot of FDNY Response for a Track Fire Handled by Track Workers...
2 Rescues, 3 or 4 Btn. Chiefs, I don't know how many Eng. & Trucks...?
Why not just respond 1 & 1 & Btn. to Monitor a job handled by Track Workers ...?
Res. 1 & Res. 4 O/S Standing-by for a job handled by Track-Work...?
Seems a bit much

If it turns out to be more than it seems then we will be playing catchup & someone might get hurt......better safe than sorry.

Many years ago when I was asked about various responses and the number of units that are sent.  I refered the person to speak to the company officer.  He was told something that stayed with me, you can always explain too much equipment but never justify not enough.

A quote from a Boston Deputy Chief over a routine incident on public transit. "We can always send them back!"

Don't forget with Penn units are going to 4 different locations.
BC to the command center
Units to the station
1st ave shaft
Queens shaft

Having responded there many times it seemed that most boxes took almost an hour. Very large place and the logistics to find the location and determine what was needed  took time.

3 and 2 with Rescue, the BN and Division to Penn Station Box 8171
BN to PS command center. Used to be Box 787.
1X1XBN to the 1st Avenue Shaft, 1X1XR-4XBN to Queens side of shaft 54 Avenue and 2 St. Box 8550
That's if it is in the tunnel to Q
Box 8551 gets transmitted for 1X1XBN to the west end of the yards if it is in the Hudson River Tunnel.

Some bosses will also tip off the Jersey Department on the other side(as a courtesy) to let them know what's up.

FDNY Chiefs and Officers, and FDNY Dispatchers, I couldn't figure it out who goes where, on my best day. You guys know your stuff.

RE:  ?Some bosses will also tip off the Jersey Department on the other side (as a courtesy) to let them know what's up.?

Is there an established IMS/ICS protocol for FDNY (Dispatchers or others) to notify the appropriate New Jersey jurisdiction in the event of a major incident in the tunnel where response from their side might be necessary?

FDNY150 - Sorry it took me so long to return here, but thanks for your response.  Sounds like a topic that will be raised during the ?Recrimination Stage? after a major event when everybody, especially the politicians, is looking for someone else to blame and wondering why something so basic ?slipped through the cracks.?  Good thing that some bosses take the initiative to do it.

You do realize that in the Bureau of Communications, no good deed goes unpunished, right??
