This week-end when the USAF Thunderbirds practice over Chicago they will have a interested CFD member. On 12-13-2008, Jason Durbin was off duty when he noticed smoke showing on a high-rise on the city's north lake shore. After notifying CFD of a working high-rise fire he was notified of a person trapped on the 28th floor. FF Durbin ran up 28 floors and carried her down to the ground floor. In 2010 FF Durbin was awarded the Carter Harrison award which is the city's highest honor for firefighter bravery. His actions caught the attention of the Thunderbirds who chose him for a flight. FF Durbin is assigned to Squad 1, which is quartered with E-42/T-3 at 55 W.Illinois. 8) 8)
