Known in the Iraeli Air Force as the "Heavy Hammer", the F4H Phantom II is the most produced supersonic military aircraft in history. My father worked for McDonnell Aircraft Corporation on another government contract (Project Mercury) in St Louis, so I got to see the very first flight of the Phantom II. I was in the fifth grade and getting off the school bus when it flew directly overhead with two F-101 chase planes. It was May 27, 1958.
