Cumberland County, Virginia structure fire January 20, 2017

The Farmville FD made an nice stop on a fire shortly after 0530 hours involving electrical wiring in a bathroom wall under very difficult conditions. Smoke was showing from the roof line of a structure at 116 Advoset Drive which was at the top of a very steep hill ice and snow covered hill. Farmville's first engine was unable to go any further up the private ice covered road, so 400 feet of 3 inch dead lay hose had to be streched by hand with a 100 foot hi rise pack placed on the end of that. Fire was held in check with water extinguishers until water supply was established. The Randolph District FD, Hampden Sydney FD and Cumberland Fd also responded. The residents needed to be relocated as power to the structure was cut.
