My wife worked as a supervisor of RA's at an assisted living facility inn Illinois. They would have the local fire department drill with them. they were shown how to remove patients when the elevators are OOS as well as other life saving methods. Fortunately while she was there they never had to use those skills but they were ready, just in case.

My wife was the Social Service Consultant to a nursing home in Nebraska, and you are right, Grump. They routinely had fire drills, sometimes even physically moving patients out of the building to practice procedures. Fortunately they also never had a fire. What strikes me about the Fall River fire is that it was confined to one wing . . . which (demonstrating my best Monday morning quarterback moves) should have simplified evacuation.
