Firefighter Hosey died of a heart attack while operating at the scene of an explosion at the Yugoslav Embassy at East 63rd St.
While operating at an explosion at the Yugoslav Embassy at East 63rd Street just off Fifth Avenue, Fireman James S. Hosey of Ladder 16 suffered a heart attack. He was reaching for an axe when he was stricken. The 4:40 a.m. explosion ripped the hinges from an iron gate and a panel of a metal door. Yugoslavia accused the United States and Canadian governments for the explosion because of its stand against the war in Vietnam. (From "The Last Alarm" by Boucher, Urbanowicz & Melahn. 2007)
