FDNY's Lime Green Fire Trucks

Here is a look back to the days of FDNY experimenting with Lime Green Fire Trucks.
At the time this was starting to become a nationwide trend.

On June 27 1978 Boston Engine 10's 1971 Hahn became the first to be changed to lime green. By December 31 1978 15 engine companies, 6 hose wagons and 4 trucks had been repainted.

If I remember correctly we had to use the lime green SQ41 because it was one of the many demands made by the neighborhood (Marty & his gang)

I was told the reason E-10 was selected was the mayor's wife hated the color. The mayor and the department were not getting along and their residence was in E-10's district so to aggravate her they painted it.
