NY Village Eliminates Paid Firefighter Jobs

Garden City's 11 paid firefighters were told not to report to work Thursday after the village board eliminated their jobs to save $2 million per year.

Garden City was a paid department 2 years ago the city council voted to go volunteer.

As a former paid member told me "they're rolling the dice, sooner or later it will come back to haunt them". But of course the mayor and other officials won't care.
