Apple TV + has started a new series entitled "Midnight Family". The theme is based on generations of a family who run a bootleg emergency ambulance service. It's predicated on the ability to beat the Mexico City municipal EMS service to the scene - and that the victim (or their family) can pay up. Overhead, of course, includes the "mordita".
The series, and preceding documentary, have gotten rave reviews.
If anyone thinks this is too nutty, let me remind the members of one fact.
In April, 1971 the Houston Fire Department assumed the role of the only provider of emergency medical care to the citizens (1970 population- 1,233,505) of Houston.
The provider they were replacing......Funeral Homes! Talk about a conflict of interest.
