I like these AF's a lot, but wondered if there was a modern kind of an FDNY apparatus to be seen.
Found some information about this AF :
During WWII , may 10th 1940 , this engine had a call for the adress: 'Stieltjesplein' but on his way it got hit by a machinegun at the 'Putchlaan'.
Firefighters were lucky at that time, but further on at the 'Hillevliet' they got shot again. Driver was killed and two firefighters were injured. Engine A2 catched 50 bullits and became out of service. After a repair it has been in service untill may 12th 1971. After that it was given for use to the National Fire Department Museum in Hellevoetsluis.
