Lawrence Ma. at least 20 confirmed fires. Gas

Listening in on scanner. Sounds like the old days in Bklyn on 4th of July. Heard at least 7 fires where no FD is responding.

Last i heard two task forces were being put together. 7 engines , 5 trucks not sure if this consist of 1 task force or not. Still breaking out all over the city. Most Locations are getting 1 and 1 . 
 
Watching the situation on TV.  At this time Mass Police reports 23 separate incidents in Andover, North Andover and Lawrence.  Watched one beautiful home with fire only on the front outside  - no FD response for 25 minutes, entire home destroyed .

Resources  are being supplied by surrounding departments  as far south as Revre just north of Boston.

As of 19:23    there are 33 fire incidents

Apparently the issues and fires caused by over pressurized gas line    Columbia Gas is provider in the area

Power is being turned off by the provider National Grid to all od Lawrence, Andover and North Andover

Now reporting 70 incidents being worked on

No numbers on any injuries

In addition to multiple fires, several home explosions

There was a similar incident in the East Boston section of the city on Sept 23, 1983. A water main broke which cause the failure of a high pressure valve. There were several building fires, nine alarms were eventually sounded. Some houses reported 6' flames coming from their pilot lights.
 
This is an on going tragedy.  Electric power has been restored,  but gas restoration is a very slow process.  Multiple local gas companies are assisting Columbia Gas including National Grid and Eversource
