Box 412, 0358 hrs. Causeway and Lowell Sts.  Downtown Boston fire in a furniture bedding warehouse.  5 firefighters from the same company - Engine 38/39 (a double engine company) and a District Chief were killed when the roof collapsed.  Engine 38/39 and Engine 7 were knocking down the fire on the 5th floor when the collapse happened approximately 60 minutes after the initial alarm.  The chief, who was known for working in his shirtsleeves, was working the fire floor with both engine companies.  Most of the men from Engine 7 were injured.  All members of Engine 39 were lost.
