MTA Subway Track Fires in 2013

Was on the subway the other day and saw an interesting fact posted as an MTA ad. It said that trash left on the tracks contributed to 563 track fires in 2013. Just thought it was interesting to post.

Actually, I'm surprised it's that few.  It averages out to less than two per day, and considering that there are over 800(?) miles of track and the garbage, oil, grease, general flammable debris, and sparks in the system I'd expect more than 563.
