According to an article in Friday's USA Today Money section effective today veterans and Gold Star families will have free lifetime access to national parks. A DOD ID, Veterans Health ID, Veterans ID or a state issued licence with a veterans designation will suffice for admission.

This is nothing new

It is a new program announced yesterday. Parterning with Operation Livewell, lifetime National Park Service passes are now available. There were benefits for veterans at various national parks and NPS visitor centers but this is a new program just announced.
