Engine 19 and Engine 2 used to be in the area, as well as Marine 3 (Engine 85).

I agree the coverage is needed I just wondered if it would be a new company number for the engine and truck or would they reactivate a long ago closed company. I think it is interesting that during the steamer years they had companies real close then as we motorized, we spread out. Now that we are getting more high rise exposure and more traffic and people clogging the streets, it looks like we need to go back to fire house placement of 1900!

All truck companies in MN and BX are still active.
Unused numbers are 57 and 60.

The following engine companies (all formerly in Manhattan) were disbanded and their company numbers would be available: Engines 11, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 36, 49, 56. The following fire boats also had engine company numbers which could be used:  51, 57, 66, 77, 78, 85, 86, 87.
