Incident Location: 22 Linwood Road North

Just after 7:30pm last evening (Saturday May 11) the Port Washington Fire Department was alerted for a house fire on Linwood Road North in the Village of Manorhaven. Within minutes Duty Chief 8524 was on scene, transmitted the Signal 10 (working fire) and advised all occupants were out of the house. Tower Ladder 8517, Engine 8513 and Engine 856 were on scene shortly thereafter. The power company was requested immediately due to live power lines down on the ground obstructing operations.
Engines 8513 and 856 supplied water to 4 hand lines and Tower Ladder 8517. Members were faced with heavy fire in a colliers mansion and were unable to make entry and immediately began to fight the fire from the exterior and protecting the exposures.
3 occupants were transported to local hospitals for evaluation.
It took several fire departments under the command of 1st Assistant Chief Donald Reese a few hours to bring the fire under control. The Port Washington Fire Department was assisted by:
Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company, Roslyn Highlands Volunteer Fire Co., Roslyn Rescue, Plandome Fire Department, Williston Park Fire Department, Glenwood H&L, E&H, Co., Inc., City of Glen Cove EMS, Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Nassau County Police Emergency Ambulance Bureau, Nassau County Police Department, Nassau County Fire Communications - Firecom, and the Office of the Fire Marshal - County of Nassau.
The Town of North Hempstead - Government Highway Department was also requested to assist in overhaul operations with an excavator. (Text Credit: PWFD)
