Remembering the Fraunces Tavern bombing
On Jan. 24, 1975, the Puerto Rican nationalist group "Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional", or the FALN, bombed the historic Fraunces Tavern in Manhattan. Oscar Lopez Rivera, a member of the FALN, was released from prison after 35 years on May 17, 2017. He recently made headlines after being named the "National Freedom Hero" of NYC's 2017 Puerto Rican Day Parade, causing the withdrawal of sponsors like JetBlue and the Yankees.
