I was making a visit to the old FDNY HQ at 110 Church street when the Box came in, and we ALL poured out of the building. With the memories of this horrific event and the former FALN giving cause for the boycott of the Puerto Rican Day Parade then

Remembering the Fraunces Tavern bombing

On Jan. 24, 1975, the Puerto Rican nationalist group "Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional", or the FALN, bombed the historic Fraunces Tavern in Manhattan. Oscar Lopez Rivera, a member of the FALN, was released from prison after 35 years on May 17, 2017. He recently made headlines after being named the "National Freedom Hero" of NYC's 2017 Puerto Rican Day Parade, causing the withdrawal of sponsors like JetBlue and the Yankees.

Worked at 45 Broad Street, just up the block. Heard the explosion and went to the scene. One of our secretaries was having lunch there. Fortunately she was not hurt, but walked back to the office, sat down in her chair and was visibly in shock. Truly awful. And to think the parade committee wanted to honor that.
Another one of those events to which I say "never forget, never forgive". Continued Rest in Peace to those who were murdered.

I is really sickening to even think that after 42 some odd years - the parade committee has not learned how horrific it was and with the previous two terrorists attacks in the UK - one would think it would open there eyes that much more wider for them to understand the meaning of what they are doing.

Any yes, I sorrily omitted to say a continued RIP to all those who lost there lives on that day.
