Noticed on a lot of NYC greater alarm fires you will see the Salvation Army Canteen trucks. Noticed they also have red lights and I take they respond emergency to the fires. How are they notified? Are they in every borough?

Calls for the Salvation Army must be made from the incident scene.

The Salvation Army Canteen usually responds to 3rd alarms or greater and also to major emergencies. They just lost a long time dedicated member Wayne the Flame who made sure the unit was at all jobs in the Bronx. He will be missed. RIP Wayne.

Is there someone who hangs out and takes the truck, 24/7. They go citywide.
