County Control advising CMD that 'somebody' from Seaside Heights called Toms River in effort to get a Crash Truck to respond to the beach. CMD advising req. did not come from the IC and 'worst idea in the world.'

This one just hurts a lot. Reports have units responded from as far South as Cape May and as far North as Bergen county. Both directions are at least an hour long response to help. 35 engines and 15 ladders.

I have been following this all afternoon at work and it is just sad to see this. My prayers go out to the people of Seaside Park.

Took it in. Heartbreaking. Just came back from two weeks in SSP. Tbendick was even with us for a weekend.

Sad indeed.  I think Gov Christey said it best bluntly when he said he felt like throwing up.  Quite honestly, I would feel that way too after everything you all in NJ went through with the storms, ect.

Hopefully the park can be rebuilt!

Union County Neptune System put to work, 12" hose, pump, manifold, and ironman nozzle. Did anyone catch Von Essens remarks on channel 7?

It took them that long to use the Neptune System? They weren't using hydrants the whole time right? We're they drafting?

They drafted from Barnegat Bay. Guessing it was the best option at the time. Once the fire hit the boardwalk it had anywhere and everywhere to go.

Anyone able to gather who went. I know Monmouth County responded with a Task Force.

I don't know how it went down, but I know for a fact the reason for county fire coordinators. To assist us NJ chiefs to get the ball rolling on those types of resources.

Generally speaking, I hope to have more details in the coming days-

2000hrs- A second Monmouth County Strike Team (Belmar, etc) staged in Toms River at Route 37 X The causeway. The first is already put to work. Strike Team from Mercer County (Including Princeton Township) arriving in Tom's River with escort. Neptune System units from Middlesex/Union counties enroute on the NJTP with escort.

Ladder set up on Ocean Terrace, from south to north:

East Dover/Toms River (Originally set up at Stockton/Boardwalk then moved to Franklin X Ocean Ter. as fire advanced north)
Seaside Heights RM/Quint (Originally set up at Dupont X Ocean Ter., later moved to boardwalk at Stockton)
Seaside Heights Tower
Pioneer Hose/Brick Township (not operating, later relocated to Stockton X Boardwalk)
Point Pleasant Beach Tower
Toms River Co. 1
Whitesville
Ocean Beach Co. 3
Silverton/Toms River
US Air Force/Station 67 (Franklin X Boardwalk)

Despite the "theyre only volunteers" comment on the news, those guys did a great job with what they were faced with, my hats off to them. A lot of companies headed south and some north on very long runs. NJ's deployment act is taking us places we'd otherwise never go. Brothers helping brothers.

While it is easy to monday morning qb or play sidewalk chief on something like this, the job that they did, faced with the high winds put them behind the 8ball from the get go.  The first trench cut they made, while they were making it the building behind them flaired up from the radiating heat alone.  They were lucky that they didn't get hurt or worse.  The second trench they made a little ways down the boadwalk they used heavy equipment to do so and were able to get lines in place to stop it there.
