I was driving the other day and I saw a fire truck speeding to a alarm in Brooklyn and I noticed that the guys in the back were in there bunker gear but they were sitting backwards looking out the front window of the rig. I have rode along in one of the new rigs and I sat in empty seat and I was trying to look and c what was the situation that we were pulling up too I have to say its uncomfortable and it's a dis advantage for the firefighter not know what the size up is or lies ahead for him or her if they are in the control  Position for the night .
Why don't they all sit forward ?

There are a few rigs that all members sit backwards, they suck.

Most rigs are 2 forward and 2 backwards.

Don't think there are any out there that are all forward facing seats.

Which rigs does everyone sit backwards, I thought they all were two and two

There were a few tower ladders and rear mounts from the late 90s that had us all sitting back.  They're are a few of the spares still floating around, they suck.

I believe the 94 Seagrave Aerial's had all four seats facing backwards. Those tormenters and aerials were much faster to put up though.

There were about 6 "93 Seagrave split tiltcab pumpers with rear facing seats. Another disadvantage was when a member became a chauffeur, he didn't know the streets too well.

I got ya now it was that small group of pumpers and ladders that they bought with the split tilt cab design around 93-94 must be tight sitting in a row like that
