Smithtown (Suffolk) Building Fire - 555 Route 111 - fire in a restaurant 5/24/22

The Smithtown Fire Department responded to a reported fire on the roof at Branchinellis Pizza at 555 Route 111 in Hauppauge on Tuesday May 24, 2022, at 7:40 PM. Upon arrival a fire was discovered on the roofs Q decking which was extending to the cockloft and ceiling of the restaurant and Sobol in the strip of stores. After exposing the area affected the fire was quickly extinguished. Mutual aid companies from Hauppauge and Saint James Fire Departments assisted at the scene. The occupied stores were evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Traffic on Route 111 and Townline Road was closed for over an hour until the fire was brought under control. The Suffolk Police and Smithtown Town Fire Marshal were on scene investigating the cause. Text courtesy Joe Sperber.
