A homeowner trying to rid his attic of squirrels instead started his Broadview house on fire. The fire started when the homeowner tried to blow cayenne pepper through the kitchen exhaust fan and into his attic. According to Broadview Chief John Tierney the owner used a leaf blower to try to spread the pepper but it got caught up in the hot motor of the exhaust fan. There were also rags stored in the attic. The pepper and rags caught fire which got inside the walls and the flooring of the attic. Firefighters from seven jurisdictions battled the early morning fire for 30 minutes which caused 70,000 in damages. No word on the fate of the squirrel! Happy Thanksgiving, GG :)

Seven jurisdictions for a house fire ?! ??? That's one heck of a house !

Seven jurisdictions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its either a house that is half the size of manhattan or they just stack up on a fire

most areas in illinois are mutual aid... alot of small towns grouped together with their own fire depts. its common for a fire with companies from numerous townships to respond. that way its like acting companies (change of quarters, for chicago) and all areas are still covered while the fire is bieng fought

Speaking of change of quarters, when Chicago moves, say E-65 to E-116, how is E-65 referred to when they get into 116's first in area???

they are still engine 65 (not 65 acting 116) they will respond on 116's runs and the stills (fire response areas) will be changed to account for the missing companies.
