Location: 1540 Route 37 West 'Toms River Brewing' and 'Bacchus School of Wine'
Description: Fire on the exterior of the building with extension inside.
On September 17, 2023 at approximately 1:32am, Toms River Fire Company No. 1 and Company No. 2 were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 1540 Route 37 West. First arriving units observed visible flames from the front of the building and the call was upgraded to a structure fire. Fire department units arrived on scene and extinguished the fire operating for approximately 3 hours. The fire was contained to the exterior of the building. The building was not occupied at the time the fire occurred.
Toms River Fire Dept., Company #1, Toms River Fire Company 2, East Dover Fire Company, Silverton Volunteer Fire Company, Pleasant Plains Vol. Fire Department, Island Heights Volunteer Fire Co. 1, Toms River Police Department, and Toms River Police EMS IAFF Local 4846 units responded to the scene. One minor injury to a fire fighter was reported.
Inspector Ryan LaVigne from the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the fire origin and cause investigation. At this time, the fire is believed to be accidental in nature. Initial assessments indicate that the fire started outside the building in a mulched planting bed.
