Voice Alarm response time

Sometimes when you listen to the live audio you can hear the dispatcher announcing a box and 10 seconds later asking a few units if they're responding and these units answer immediately.

How can this be?
Are they so fast at getting on the rig?

I would guess that a few units are 10-8
But nearly all of them?!

Even special Units like the TSU most times answer immediately

Usually they don't announce the box until a little while after it is sent by teleprinter in the FH & MDT on the Rig.

Back in the day... when the rigs had tube-type radios such as the Motorola FMTRU-80D... the general rule was the radio announcement was to be made about 1 minute after the box went out.    On the bells, that is!

Delay also after Voice Alarm. 

With delay, all responding units get additional information from dispatcher when run announced.

Sounds like the old 45 MHz RCA Civil Defense radio I had in the trunk of my car -- had to wait for the dynamotor to wind up before speaking into the microphone. If it was nighttime I could see my headlights dim, even with a 140 amp alternator!
