Washington,DC Fire Chief Changes Sick Day Policy

DC Fire Chief could not be any more ineffective, incompetent or distant from rank and file members than this chief is.
If you want to address sick leave issues, you do not do it this way. There is a union and agreed-upon processes.
This is the same chief who requires fire companies in high crime neighborhoods to leave their firehouses at night and park on city streets to deter crime. Who refused to hire new paramedics to fill vacancies. Who would not permit members to wear company tee shirts under bunker gear. Who changed the name of the department from traditional "DC Fire Department" (DCFD) to DC Fire and Emergency Services or "FEMS". Who has no effective department apparatus and maintenance accountability programs. Who drives around alone at night in an unmarked vehicle to spy on his members.

The Chief of the Washington, DC Fire Dept and the "FORMER" Chief of the Boston Fire Dept sound to me like they both attended the same schools together. Boston said "good bye" to theirs and not too many tears were shed. With a track record like this DC Chief has, I hope he can join his former Boston colegue.
