What happens if ? If this site were to ever have some type of problem where everything here is suddenly gone. It actually happened to another fire department web site back in 2013. The word was that the entire site was high jacked. Everything on there was lost. There was some great information and stories that guys had posted over the years and then it was suddenly GONE. Never to be seen again.
Now I don't know if that's exactly what happened but the site members were all told that. Is it possible ? I just don't know that.
But this site as well, has some excellent information that if is ever lost, will NEVER be replaced again. One such thread I'm referring to is the Firehouse thread started by "mack". Everybody who I have talked to says what a great job he's done and I hate to think if any of that were ever lost. Of course the other favorite was started by a guy who calls himself "nfd2004", and that is the thread called "My Younger Buff Years". Many members here have contributed information that just couldn't be printed in a book.
There are photos, videos, stories, dates and it goes on and on. Of course there is a lot more threads too. FDNY apparatus, the fires, the major incidents. So how do we protect this extremely valuable information ?
If anybody understands what I'm talking about and how we can do it, let us all know. Because I have seen threads lost on another site that no one will never be able to be replace again. They are gone forever.
