REST IN PEACE BROTHER...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BOTH MILITARY (US NAVY) & FDNY.
Sorry for your loss brotherGerry Killenberger was one of my best friends. We were friends for over 30 years, and he was truly like the big brother I never had. We went on vacations together and we were both in the FDNY and both volunteer firefighters, Gerry in Goshen N.Y. and myself in the adjoining town of Chester N.Y. We ate together with wives almost every weekend and just about 2 weeks before he went to the Lord we were together eating and drinking our favorite drink, Gin and Tonics. We worshiped together in Saint James Episcopal Church in Goshen N, Y. Octoberfest my life, without my buddy I will never be the same. I truly miss my good buddy and will as long as I live. Sorry for yet another loss, Cap!This has been a bad few months for me I lost a lot of friends bother brother firefighters and non-firefighters. Now I hear about Ed Yany my friend with whom I worked in Ladder 11 during the "War Years" on Manhattan Lower East Side. I worked in Lader 11 from March 1976 to March 1977.
Ed was a great guy a great fireman and one of the few I knew who worked in the FDNY's T.C.U. = Tactical Control Units. T.C.U. were ether Ladder or Engine Companies that were only in operation from 3:00 PM to "I think" 1:00 A.M, OR 12 Midnight. The T.C.U.'s only operated during those hours and in the Very Very busy fire areas of NYC. the result was very experienced, great firefighters. Ed was one of the best and many including myself learned how to be a better firefighters because of Ed. Yany, Rest in Peace Brother.
