1961: Working for the (London) Fire Brigade

In the late 1970's, Gordon Honeycombe wrote the book "RED WATCH" about the A21 Paddington Station on the Harrow Road just north of the Paddington Railway Station. He was there when the famous Worsley Hotel fire happened (12/13/1974) with seven fatalities including a Paddington proby LODD. This book is a must read (Amazon)!

In 1995, Paddington was the third busiest station in the LFB (behind Dagenham and Wennington) with 12 four pump and 3 six pump fires on their ground.

At the Worsley fire the RED WATCH Station Officer (known throughout the job as "The Guv") was Neil Wallington who subsequently wrote several books himself- all worth reading.
