I agree with you, it does sound crazy but welcome to Brooklyn. After working there for 15 years, a quick turnout is key if you want to get in first. 124 has to make 4 turns because of Himrod being one way. 112 a straight shot down Knickerbocker. Also 277 is 2nd. due 3 blocks from their quarters at Gates and Evergreen. Lot’s of engines, truckles triangle. But no pressure working there 😆

I hear you Lt. Q..... It was the same way on Liberty Ave... Back in the day when l was a Aux in 319, we interchanged with 332.
If a box came in to our east when we pulled OOQ we would see 236 pulling out of there quarters facing towards us. Now the interesting part would be to see who gets into the block first... The other issue was all the streets going south had stop signs which made the response time a little slower for us. And then low and behold 290 would cut across us on the main streets.
After 10 years 319 stopped interchanging with 332. It was a different world with a big change when l rode with 332. There chauffeurs were amazing drivers and probably never got beaten into a box.

Also quick question did u no the Magraths both or either the father and son .
