What is the relationship between the Port Authority and FDNY at the airports? Finally does the Port Authority automatically notify FDNY for an aircraft in distress standby? As I've mentioned with CFD a standby alert is an automatic still and box and EMS plan I.
Interesting fact that goes into this topic, the helicopter/traffic reporter for the CBS station in the Chicago area is a volunteer firefighter for the Kirkland fire department in Dekalb county IL.
I would imagine that FDNY has staging areas at LGA and JFK? Driving down the main road into ORD I have seen read signs that say "CFD staging area" fallowed by a letter of the alphabet.
Hello, how are airport emergencies handled at LGA and JFK? I understand that the Port Authority crash trucks are the first responders but does FDNY get notified/respond to these? In the Chicago area for ORD and MDW a still and box and EMS plan I is automatic for an aircraft in distress stand by...
Good afternoon, I would imagine that in the New York area there are fire photographers similar to Tim Olk, Larry Shapiro, and Steve Reddick? If so who are the best and do they have web sites? Thanks.
An interesting story from one of the security guards at work who is retired CPD. Once when he was working a fire scene and had the road blocked with his squad car, a TV news truck drove around him and over a charged hose line. The news crew was ticketed and got royally chewed out by his SGT.
Hello, I'm sure you all have had to deal with the media on fire and other emergency scenes on a regular basis. Are they respectful about boundaries or do they push it? Finally has a member of the media gotten in the way? Thanks.
So it doesn't meter if the access portion might favor a FD they have go outside there normal jurisdiction? And by accesses portion I mean it's easier for Department A to get on then department B. Thanks.
Hello, how do Fire/EMS responses work in the New York Area work? Is it like in the Chicago Area where the response is based on who has the easiest accesses to that part of the Highway even if it's well outside the towns normal area? Thanks.
Cool, although I'm sure that any vessel in distress call brings the USCG into the mix. Not sure if any of you have seen this type of Coast Guard helicopter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocopter_MH-65_Dolphin#/media/File:MH65E_Hover.jpg or this kind...
I would imagine that a water rescue in NYC involves the NYPD, and the Coast Guard? How often do FDNY and NYPD train with the USCG? https://www.atlanticarea.uscg.mil/Our-Organization/District-1/District-Units/Sector-New-York/Unitsa/ Looks like the Coast Guard has a station on Stanten Island. Thanks.
So if a fatal fire deemed arson, then fire marshals will work with NYPD detectives? Finally do certain alarm levels warrant a fire Marshal to automatically respond? Thanks.
