Why do you need stand that close to the chief and put a camera in his face? You’re not on the job no matter how much work duty uniforms you wear to these fires.
Yes. It’s well known within the members of FDNY that these people show up to fires wearing FDNY work duty uniforms and radios and walk all over the fire scene. It’s no secret. They are brazen about it. Whether the FDNY headquarters has the power to do something about it is on them.
Yes Very true with the command post. Just stating a point with having civilians roaming around the fireground filming for their social media pages and getting too close to operations regardless of where the command post is set up. These guys get too close to operations. They think they are on...

I understand “buffing”. I understand “buff videos”. I am a fire buff. Hence why I follow this site. I just don’t understand how it’s allowed that they dress up in FDNY work uniforms and carry radios, and walk all over the fire scene. That can’t be legal. Imagine police buffs showing up in NYPD...
Do you guys get special permission from FDNY Headquarters to walk thru the fire scene and across hoselines and up next to FDNY command posts? Or do you guys do that on your own? And why do you guys wear FDNY job issued uniforms?
