Thanks Willy D. Fond memories of working with the Fairfield FD. Prior to that rode with Eng 248/ B 41 for nine years. Still responding in Stonington even though I turned 80 in September. Only do Fire Police duties these days.
Reported elsewhere, the flooding in Central Park was so severe that the sea lions in the zoo were able to swim over their glass enclosures and escape. They were safely captured and returned.
Reported elsewhere: no box number given, all hands fire at 2317 Cortelyou Road. Fire was under control at the time of the all hands.
Should be, in no particular order:, E 248, 281, 255 L 147, 157 B 41, if all available.
The Old Mystic FD was dispatched to a structure fire at 134 Cow Hill Road, near Oral School Road. First arriving declared a working fire with heavy fire in a 2 car attached garage. Mystic FD responded for mutual aid. As an attack was being made, command transmitted a first alarm assignment...
New London FD responded to a working fire at a 7-11 at 283 Broad Street. The store was open at the time and is just down the street from NLFD Station 2. The structure suffered severe fire damage. Mutual aid was called from Waterford, Sub Base (FAST), and Pequonnock Bridge.
Finally reached the age of 80; probably not the oldest member of this forum but close to it. Seems like yesterday when I joined Engine 248 as an auxiliary firefighter in 1964 and served there until 1973. Many happy memories working with the engine and riding as the "Aide to the Aide" in...

I am planning on going; I live four miles away. I was on Firefiighter back in 1988 when the Fire Bell Club went on a cruise in New York harbor for the Firefighter's 50th anniversary.
I know it is not due for replacement anytime soon but the quarters of E 248/ B 41 on Snyder Avenue, or what I call the "New House", was opened in 1972 when we moved from Church Avenue. That means the "New House" is already 51 years old. Time flies. LOL.
