AMERICAN FLAG ORDERED TO BE REMOVED FROM FDNY RIG.

Not to stoke a fire here, but the flag that was removed is not an American flag. Its a facsimilie of the flag. And its defaced. Im sure as hell means a lot to the members but Im 99% sure there are rules and regs governing what can and cant be flown or displayed from a rig. If the regs say it...

Oh wow is that place still there? I remember driving by whenever we were heading to see family who lived about a mile away. Always wild to see it in mid-summer still all done up.

My brother always had his scanner on local PD frequencies in Westchester since they'd be first onscene to any 911 or similar call. Id say a good 80% of the time he'd be out the door and in his car rolling to the station or the incident site before 60 Control toned out the department.

    OPEN GANGWAY SUBWAY CARS.

A bunch of major metro areas and interurban rail carriers, primarily in Japan/Europe use the "open car" passthru design. My experience has been that MUs are capped at 4 or 6 car consists between hard stop endpoints. Max consist is usually 8 cars in this format in Europe but is much longer in...

    Spare fleet

Interesting, I didn't know about that location. Wild to see just how much apparatus FDNY keeps on ice "just in case", that many rigs is a fleet larger than most cities on its own! Streetview from June 2022 also shows an old Mack Searchlight rig hiding in there as well

    FDNY DIVE TEAMS.

Apologies for the necropost but after doing a deep dive into the cast and crew of The Right Stuff I was very surprised and saddened to hear that Jane Dornacker, the hardassed nurse in the early training sequences of the film met her end in the East River this way. Well done to the members who...

Ladder Co Spins on the Ice in Arnold MO 1/22/24

Got it right into the driveway while also being considerate and laying out the line for the guys inside. 10/10 execution! Hope that department wears brown bunker gear pants.

Fleet Friday FDNY SPECIAL UNIT COMPARTMENTS

Yep back in the big "Snowvember" storm when the southern burbs got 8ft of lake effect snow a few years ago. That was a wild thing to witness, my front yard got about 4 inches while less than 2 miles away they were getting feet upon feet

Investigation of Fatal Newark Ship by NJ.COM

Where is the Port Authority in all this too? They have more than enough $$ to buy all sorts of fancy rigs for the bridges and tunnels, why do they only provide a police presence at their largest property? Or require terminal operators to maintain their own firefighting fleet? Newark FD was...
