As someone who was there to actually see the destruction this fire caused, I can tell you the amount of research and information he presented was awesome. On the 27th of February, will be the 50th anniversary of this fire. Thank you Bill and John B for this great site.

One manhole fire job I was at, I checked the cellar of a 22 story dwelling and had a reading of 1495 co. A 2nd alarm was transmitted to search all upper floors, some had to be forced. I forgot how high the co readings went but it’s a serious situation.

I worked with Bob Cicero’s father, Nick in E 5. He was a proby at the 23rd St fire and was told to wait at the top of the stairs to the cellar, when he noticed a lot of debris being sucked down the stairs, that’s when he started yelling for everyone to get out, saving the lives of 2 companies, E...

This hero officer was stabbed in the chest 2 years ago and went back to the streets instead of desk duty. He is now fighting for his life, for some mutt speeding about 100 mph on the expressway. Prayers for him and his family.

In the old days the perp would have been tuned up at the scene, but he’s is probably let out already and back on the streets.
