    Suffield, Ct Barn Fire 7/19/25

Thank you. That was both interesting and informative. I am familiar with the tobacco curing barns in Lancaster County. Those wiley Amish farmers aren't stupid. They know folks will pay more for something to smoke than to eat. I thought the only thing "grown" in Connecticut was nutmeg.

Our Favorite Singers Who Are No Longer With Us

In an era of girl groups, Connie Francis was the number one female pop star from Elvis until the arrival of the Beatles. Less well known is that, starting in 1959, she would make over a dozen albums of traditional and ethnic songs in German, Spanish, Irish, French, Yiddish, Latin, and, of...

    MRI DANGER REMINDER.

To improve exercise efficiency, runners will wear a weighted vest. The usual dose is ten percent of body weight to start. I would suggest that the only exercise done near an MRI scanner should be caution.

7-14-25 FLOODING FDNY FIRE ACADEMY PARKING AREA.

Here's my guess: There's probably a ferry to Randall's at the foot of 125th Street. The truck and the chief take that route. I think Engine 16 is a double company. The manpower from one section hitch a ride uptown on the fireboat. The steamer and hose wagon take an avenue up to 125th Street...

Austin Tx FD Union 93% vote of no confidence against Fire Chief

Ah...The People's Capitol- Austin. Most citizens in Texas can sleep better knowing we've got most of the crazy people corralled into one small area. I haven't seen anything about this dust-up in the Houston news media. Of course the Houston Chronicle doesn't report news that could make certain...

    7/14/25 Bronx 2nd Alarm Box 3137

I can certainly identify with this problem. Raccoons are always trying to invade/trash my birdfeeders. I go through about a half a container a week of Cayenne pepper to keep them in misery and moving along.
