111 still seems to catch a good amount of work even though the neighborhood has changed so much. 124 seems to go weeks without work though. Maybe because some of 111 second and third due areas are still rough and 124 is surrounded by gentrified areas.
I'm not very familiar with the area around 240 but it seems like they have a tough time getting out of the area between the cemetery and the park especially going south.
It requires a good amount of continuing education to maintain a paramedic certification. I assume FDNY will pay for members to attend this training if they are mandating people to keep their cert. I can't imagine FDNY would pay for all of this training just so members can obtain RMA's.
Scott Muni is a name I had forgotten about. I listened to him everyday on WNEW until he went over to 104.3 and listened a few more years on there until I stopped working in NYC.
