listening to the various channels I sometimes hear beeps. I heard: 3 series of 3 beeps or 1 series of 3 beeps followed by 2 series of 2 or very often multiple series ( I think 5 ) of a lot of them What do those beeps mean, are they opening somebody's channel or having a horn go ?

As far as I understand communications now, an emergency is often reported using a special box which is in public. These boxes have numbers, which are the same used in communications with the units. Correct me if I'm wrong. What happens when for example a fire is reported using a mobile phone ...
