    3/16/26 Queens 4th Alarm 10-66 Box 9411

If you look back at the last few 10-66s, I don't think that's the case. But I see Signal's reply that it is due to the 10-66 code 1. The previous calls I was looking at were 10-66 no code.

The SOC relocation policy as of late seems to be to get one unit in to the boro, with the most common relocation being squad to squad. I do not recall any incident recently where they relocated two squads in to the boro. Sometimes the SOC relocation requirement may be satisfied but they still...

Brooklyn 5th alarm Commercial Fire 3/11/26 Box 2671

Not sure how much justification there would be for that given that most of the (great) work they do is rescue operations in seasonal tourist areas. In any event if we're talking about big fires the small boats don't have big capacity, they're mainly useful for accessing remote areas with water

Brooklyn 5th alarm Commercial Fire 3/11/26 Box 2671

Ok, got it. So, how would it have made an impact on this incident? I'm not sold on that either. In the past, I can see how a 10,000gpm super pumper in a department with 1,000gpm engines would make an impact. Now, with 2,000gpm engines, I don't see how a 5,000gpm engine makes a huge difference...

As has been discussed on here numerous times, those expecting to see the super pumper going to all big fires will be disappointed. They should have named it the foam pumper. To the extent it is going to be used, that's where you're going to see it.

I don't understand the fierce resistance to this seemingly new policy of SI units relocating to or responding in to Brooklyn. By my count, there were 5 SI companies engaged this morning: E160, E155, E165, L77, and L80 (not counting relief later). In all five cases, those units are in quarters...

Is FDNY missing deluge units? The gun on the satellites is capable of 4,000 GPM, isn't it?

E39T HR2- I assume they were assigned as the VSU. How were they the closest VSU? By my count, L142, L115, L160, L119, L124 (at least) all closer. Were numerous units tied up or has there been a change in policy?

    3/5/26 Bronx 4th Alarm Box 3607

Adding to the discussion above, the common practice I observe seems to be that 1-alarm first in most boros (except maybe northern SI) rely almost exclusively on relocators from within the boro. A second alarm is more of a mix of in-boro and out-of-boro relocates, while the greater alarms rely...

My understanding is they can run from their own offices during the day tour. For example I've heard CWTCs talk about the role on podcasts and refer to, for example, 15A responding from the Rock.

I don't know the answer for certain but this may help: at the recent fatal fire in Queens, in the press conference that followed, COD Esposito said something to the effect of "FDNY will remain on scene during demolition until such time as we can fully complete all searches of this building...
