I thought I saw that NYC was putting some kind of key code box on the rigs in order to release the brake. Am I remembering it correctly ?

This is a classic C.Y.A. move by the building dept. If something happens as a result of the bike or scooter being in the building then they can turn around and say we told you not to bring it in here so it ain't on us.

Didn't United Labs along with the FDNY do some kind of testing on Governors Island about 7 or 8 years ago? I remember something about them setting fires in different types of buildings with different windows and other things to test fire spread (Its not a good recollection).

I google map and put Hart Island The Bronx and a bunch of pictures came up. Some showing burial sites and some showing inside of da vacant buildings

Something I am alot more in favor is something like cascade relocating. Such as like a city or town in Westchester gets a fire surrounding towns and cities relocate in this way the town or city is covered and if more manpower or equipment is needed its close by. I know there's alota variables...

My comment was more towards the distance from 41 to 21 quarters is about 15 miles and probably about a 45 minute ride. Taking a Truck out of an area that is a bit thin on Trucks to start with for a long period, they run into 61, 97 and 72 all single Engines and can run long runs up to 38/51...

I agree with tom113 as far as pre 70's but remember that the RM's are shorter then the TDA's and over the years renovations happened like weight rooms, expand kitchens, bathrooms, etc which might exclude those houses.

It was a solution put into the water in the rigs that supposedly cut down on the friction to make the water go thru the hoses better.

The damage looks cosmetic, I don't see why it should be scraped if its a good rig otherwise
