In Boston we have fire hose that can be inflated with air and used for flotation, I’m not certain about FDNY but the mask can be used to fill the hose line with air from the cylinder.

Can anybody offer any insight on how soon Bronx companies go into Harlem or Harlem companies into the Bronx. Seems that some locations the 1st alarm could be a mix of companies from Both Manhattan and the Bronx. But I'm not sure if it really works that way.

Can anyone explain how the "irons" position works in the FDNY? Here in Boston our "Open Up Man" carries a Halligan and Maul (2 lbs sledge with 10 in. handle). The "Open Up Man" also carries the Rabbit tool if needed depending on the building type. Seems the Irons set up works great for the FDNY...
