Can anybody offer any insight on how soon Bronx companies go into Harlem or Harlem companies into the Bronx. Seems that some locations the 1st alarm could be a mix of companies from Both Manhattan and the Bronx. But I'm not sure if it really works that way.

Boston 6463, I think you would see that Harlem Units respond into The Bronx, and Bronx Units respond units into Harlem quite often. I could be wrong but it is only a trip over several bridges for these companies to respond together. Don"t forget, they are all still the FDNY and its not like a seperate city of two different depts.

Both R-3 and Sq-41 are located in the Bronx but are the special units that cover the Bronx  &  Harlem.

On the Manhattan side, Engines 59, 69, 93, and 95 go into the Bronx on a regular basis. Ladders 30,28,45, and 36.
On the Bronx side, it's E-83, E-43, 81, 52. Ladders 29,59,46, and 52. Anybody else is usually going on a multiple, replacing an unavailable unit, or as a relocator.
Squad 41 does respond into Manhattan as an ENGINE on a couple of boxes in the 140's around Lenox Avenue.

Squad 18 is dispatched as a squad/special service company to all 10-75's and specialized rescue calls, including HazMat, south of 90th Street on the West Side, and South of 75th Street on the East Side.  North of their Squad 41 comes in.
