According to other news sources, this fire was set to cover a homicide as the victim was already deceased when found from knife wounds.

Is Marble Hill still considered Manhattan even though it's geographically attached to the Bronx?

Yes, Marble Hill is still considered Manhattan.  From what I understand, quite a number of years ago, the river was moved from 228th/230th Street to it's current location in order to make it easier to navigate.  Prior to that, Marble Hill was geographically attached to Manhattan.

Twenty or so years ago the city officially made Marble Hill part of the Bronx as it is physically part of the mainland.

Marble Hill is interesting.  According to wikipedia:  "Marble Hill is the northernmost section of the Borough of Manhattan...  Marble Hill residents remain part of a political district that includes the northernmost areas of Manhattan (Washington Heights and Inwood), but receive services (for example the fire department) from the Bronx due to reasons of convenience and safety."  Some curious facts - Marble Hill has a Bronx zip code - but mail can be addressed to either New York (Manhattan), NY or Bronx, NY.  Marble Hill also has a Bronx phone exchange, but residents are listed in both Manhattan and Bronx phone books.  Residents serve jury duty in lower Manhattan.  Residents are represented politically by City Council District 10 Manhattan, but Bronx Community Board 8 oversees the day to day operations of Marble Hill...  Quite a political landscape!

G'man - what does your postal service history say?  Very interesting background alsc683.  I haven't been to Inwood in years since I was at Manhattan College and we use to go to the "Gary Owen" bar where they had a band on weekends.

Just to add to the confusion Manhattan College is located in Riverdale in the Bronx although it did start out in lower Manhatttan.

As far as the U.S. Pistol Service goes, Marble Hill is within the Kingsbridge Station zone, Bronx 10463 And it was in that zone when I started working for them 40 years ago. ;)

How about "The Last Stop" on 207 st

The victim had his throat slashed from ear to ear. Heat condition in fire apartment with no visible fire, fire had smoldered for a time. Seems like bedroom was set to cover the apparent homicide.
