This building was the scene of a previous fire where a 60 year old female perished less than 24 hours before this fire. Video on Philly Fire News FB. THIS PLACE WAS RIPPING.
 
Speaking of ripping, according to the national news media, I see the Philadelphia Shipyard is going from desolate to the busiest shipyard in the United States. Started before the Revolutionary War, it was an important part of the birth of the United States Navy .

It was building one ship per year. It's been bought by the South Korean giant naval firm Hanwha Ocean. They have poured $5 billion in to South Philly, and, by 2028, plan to be building 20 ships per year, including a nuclear submarine. Already, they can't find enough welders.

I have fond memories of the shipyard and US Navy Base in the 1950's. They're going to have to open up the old bars and tattoo joints on Broad Street!

That's pretty awesome. I love that shipyard, nice to see it active again. The Navy still has a paid fire department there right?
