Last night the Weather Channel ran a show called "Hurricane 360". It featured the night on 10-29-12 on Breezy Point. The first 15 minutes or so dwelt on the storm surge and the flooding, attempted water rescues, etc. Then the show switched over to the first reported fire, with the winds and no response it just took off. The show indicated that the volunteer departments had hunkered down in a clubhouse, their station and apparatus were under 5' of water. With no response available the members made an attempt to reach their quarters and see if their apparatus would start. Incredibly they did and responded. Two other departments also got some of their equipment to start and these 3 departments went to work. They were hampered by low hydrant pressure and their inability to draft. It was ironic, they were standing in waist deep water but had difficulty in putting the blue stuff on the red stuff. Those 3 companies did the best they could under extremely difficult conditions until other help could arrive, they never gave up in spite of what they were up against.

BN*46 from qtrs was the 1st BC 10-84 at the Fire.

I think Chief Pieffer eventually got into this fire
He was actually there first as he lived there but the 46 was the 1st assigned BC to arrive.
