There is a Dunkin Donuts on the NW corner of the intersection - in the old days a laundromat on the southside that would have a dryer fire at least once a month - also a Joe DiMaggio’s Italian Restaurant that was pretty good - would get pizza from there on a special occasion - no relation to Marilyn Monroe’s former husband though!

Pretty common occurrence around that corner....7-11 ...the liquor store & the Mobil station always have some groups gathered....some day laborers & some just hanger outers,

Eugene, that D.D. opened in 1958. As a kid I had to go to the M.D. who had an office in the apartment building at on the N/W corner of 149 and Northern. Sometimes, if I were lucky, mom would stop at D.D. as we walked down Northern to Linden Place to get the bus to College Point.
