I don't see any mention of the Union County Neptune system housed in Elizabeth FD.  I wonder if they called them in later on. This is the type of fire it would be perfect for.

what?s that?

This building is not even 10 minutes into NJ after crossing the Outerbridge Crossing from SI. 151/76 closest firehouse in SI, but 153/77 chosen because they?re closest to Marine 9 quarters.
Question: what is the protocol for requesting mutual aid from FDNY? Formal phone call from agency to agency? Who is involved?

The Neptune system is a super high volume pump on skids kept at Eng 5 in Elizabeth NJ. Also included is a special hose wagon with 12" large diameter hose in two reels. There was a fire during the summer further along the Jersey shore where it was used. Scroll down the page for a picture of the high volume pumper.

Pictures of pumper and hose truck. There are three or four of these systems located strategically around New Jersey.

Marine 9 has also drilled with the Neptune system, and has adapters to connect to their 12 inch supply line(s). Marine 1 may also, but I'm not sure.

Here's an article about the Neptune system:

Where was the fire in the summer along the Shore?

The jersey shore fire in the summer I think was the big fire on the boardwalk pavilion in Ocean Grove. It was actually before the summer in late April.

I'm really surprised that the Neptune system wasn't used . . . especially since there was such a huge tanker relay operation (see the Majesterium's great video in the National incidents folder).  But at the tail end of the video, there's a short shot of what looks like a large manifold trailer, with at least eight lines running out from it . . . is that part of Neptune?

153 & 77 never responded.  They were told to return to quarters.
In regards to Mutual Aid request like this, goes through Operations.

Marine 9 is part of the state fire boat mutual aid box alarm taskforce. As far as Neptune I can find out if it was utilized. Being that the parts of the Neptune system are spread out over the UASI region I don?t recall hearing anyone specifically requested for their piece....

Quote from jmag228 in the National incidents folder:

"The Tanker Task Forces that are seen are from at least seven different counties based on the municipalities seen. The task force arriving at the 1:05 mark of Majestrium's video is from southern Ocean County, closer to Atlantic City than Woodbridge. The Neptune is on scene and appears to be supplied by FDNY boats. My volunteer department sent four engine companies fairly early in the fire, and we are 20 miles south(Middletown) Likely one of the largest mutual aid responses in NJ since the Seaside Park/Heights fire"
