According to the FDNY, a tax-payer type building is commonly a two-story, mixed-use structure with commercial occupancies on the first floor and residential apartments above.
While taxpayers can be two-storey, I don't think it is correct if the implication is that they are most commonly two storey.

**{ FDNY BOX 3779 ~ BROOKLYN }**~**{ FDNY BATTLING A **10-66 5TH ALARM FIRE WITH A MAYDAY AND COLLAPSE** IN THE BORO PARK SEDER MAYZAH BAKERY ON 36TH STREET IN THE KENSINGTON AREA OF BROOKLYN IN NEW YORK CITY }**…..
Enjoyed your video John. The elevated roof views are the best. Stay safe and stay warm and off the ice.🚒🇺🇸

While taxpayers can be two-storey, I don't think it is correct if the implication is that they are most commonly two storey.
I'm pretty sure they can be as tall as they can until they are considered a high rise, then the term of a taxpayer goes bye.

"Taxpayer" is an informal term that has come to mean a one or two-story commercial structure of wooden interior construction and fireproof exterior walls. Taxpayers are similar to "strip malls" in other areas, and the term is now understood to include supermarkets and bowling alleys. Size varies from 20 feet wide and 50 feet deep to an entire block. Some have a mezzanine, usually unenclosed and with limited access. There are usually sprinklers, but they may be limited to the cellar. Major concerns include the likelihood of a common cockloft, a possible second cockloft, potential collapse of parapet walls, and roofs supported by a variety of truss type construction and associated risk of secondary wall collapses.

According to the FDNY, a tax-payer type building is commonly a two-story, mixed-use structure with commercial occupancies on the first floor and residential apartments above.
This is incorrect. As others stated it is a 1 or 2 story commercial occupancy. A mixed use structure is a mixed use structure…not a Taxpayer.

According to the FDNY, a tax-payer type building is commonly a two-story, mixed-use structure with commercial occupancies on the first floor and residential apartments above.
If there are any residential apartments at the address it is no longer a Taxpayer. It is indeed a Mixed Occupancy
