Staten Island Ferry boat fire

Ferry was in transit between Manhattan and SI, is now anchored in bay

600+ passengers being offloaded onto tug boats

BC21 gave 10-75, E156 WRU

BC21: As per SI DOT, 662 people on board. Fire was KD in engine room via the sprinkler system, still active fire in the stack. Boat is out in the water - not in terminal.

Car 4 to SI: We are in touch with the Coast Guard, they confirm the boat is anchored in the Bay Ridge channel.

BC21: Have EMS respond. We are having another ferry pick up members at the SI terminal.

The newest Ferry. I rode it on Tuesday. I would be interested in finding out how long it took to evacuate 662 passengers. Since this was a minor incident it would probably represent a "best case scenario".

Ferry apppears to be the Sandy Ground, recently delivered and very much recently in service. Glad to hear there were no casualties, bravo zulu to the FDNY and NYPD marine divisons, as well as the crew aboard to get the passengers off safely.

It was just last week that there was a discussion on this board as to whether M1, M6, M9 had ever worked together at an incident. They did last week and again today, granted today wasn’t a fire. Glad it all worked out and no serious injuries.

10-46 has been used pretty frequently for marine incidents (at least recently).

At the 2:40 mark in this video you can hear Battalion 10 state that the marine units gave a 10-46 Code 2.

Just noticed this
The crew of the vessel was very quick to act and they acted appropriately by notifying the Coast Guard of an emergency on board,” said FDNY Assistant Deputy Chief Frank Leeb during a press conference in St. George

The only Car listed on rundown is Car 4 Chief of Operations, is Chief Leeb the new Chief of Operations?
