I've got to admit, I'm old school . . . I don't like the world's new means of communicating by letters.  I'd much rather type out "that's funny" than type "LOL", and so on.  But sometimes I really get confused.  In this thread, for instance, I couldn't figure out what "MBFKD" could possibly mean, until efd was kind enough to post da ExChief's rundown (OK, OK, I'm slow). But with new guys coming up with their own abbreviations (e.g. BFC for Battallion Chief), maybe it's time to post a list of abbreviations and acronyms that we commonly use somewhere on this board, to help out SOGLMs (that's Stupid Old Geezers Like Me, for the uninitiated).  Anybody got thoughts?  ;D ::) ;D

raybrag - I hear you - irony of the whole thing is I picked up MBFKD (main body of fire knocked down) from the ExChief - I had to stop and think about it the first time I saw it in one of his summary reports.

We use a lot of acronyms and abbreviations when we update incident histories in the computer. Here's some helpful examples.
MBFKD=Main Body of Fire Knocked Down
TOU=Trucks Opening Up
L/S= Lines Stretched
L/O=Lines Operating
PriSrch, Sec Srch= Primary and Secondary Searches.
EXT=Extension
Those are some of the common ones we use.

  Don't feel bad there old friend. I'm lost too. The only one I know is "O-I-C-U-R-M-T". That's what I usually say when friends invite me over for a shot or two as I open the Liquor Cabinet. Or sometimes I'll say that when I open their refrigerator looking for food.
