Interesting notes:
Fire was on Wyckoff Avenue in Bushwick.  Wyckoff Street is in Boerum Hill.

Engine 271 would have been first due, if they were in service.

Engine 277 must have been on another run to be assigned on the second.

Was E271's absence due to it being out-of-service for the night tour? ???  Regarding Wyckoff St.: Oops! A typo on my part, it's been corrected to Wyckoff Ave ;).

That sure is interesting that a fire in 271's 1st due area went to a 3rd. Things might have been different if they weren't out of service at night.

Having Engine 218 1st due coming from Hart street and Myrtle is a whole different story than having Engine 271 coming 1 block away from Himrod Street. There had to have been a delay getting water on the fire. The Mayor and the commissioner lucked out that no one died. It is still a tragedy for the families that were displaced. We can find the money to bail out corporate crooks but we cant keep an engine company around for a night tour. It is amazing. Of all the neighborhoods bushwick. When I was a kid I walked around a neighborhood of ruins because of all the fires. I pray i never see that again.

E218, E277/L112 and E271/TL124 but E222, E237 and E233/L176 are just outside Bushwick and even 1st due to a few Bushwick boxes.

Also 291 and 140 respond in from Queens on some Bushwick boxes; they are just over the border.
